Observational Learning: To See Is to Know

A group of psychologists, led by Albert Bandura, developed social learning theory, which emphasizes the fact that much learning occurs in a social context. This kind of learning, which results simply from observing and imitating the behavior of others, is called observational learning. Observational learning helps people acquire proper behavior in their families and cultures. By watching others, we learn how to greet people, eat, laugh and tell jokes. Do you still remember your first few days in senior grade one? By watching others, you learned how people talked to each other, what clothes were \"fashionable,\" and how to interact with instructors. With modeling, you observe others' behaviors, and then none, some, or all of these behaviors may be learned and repeated, or modified. In one of Bandura's classic studies, children were divided into three groups: One group watched an adult beating up a Bobo doll, one group watched an adult ignoring the Bobo doll, and the third didn't see an adult at all. After being mildly frustrated by being placed in a room with toys, but not being allowed to play with some of them, all of the children were then placed in another room with a variety of toys, including a Bobo doll. Children in the first group tended to imitate what they had seen, mistreating the doll (and inventing new ways to abuse it).

Researchers have discovered that several characteristics of models can make learning through observation more effective. Not surprisingly, the more you pay attention to the model, the more you learn. You are more likely to pay attention if the model is an expert, is good looking, has high status, or is socially powerful. Second, by watching others, we learn about what behaviors are appropriate for people like ourselves, so models who are seen as similar are more readily imitated. All students need to see successful, capable models who look and sound like them. Then, as teachers, how can you apply observational learning? Here are a few guidelines. Above all, model the behaviors and attitudes you desire your students to learn. For example, show enthusiasm for the subject you teach. Be willing to demonstrate both the mental and the physical tasks you expect the students to perform. Second, use peers, especially class leaders, as models. For example, in group work, pair students who do well with those who are having difficulties. Third, you may seek the help of class leaders in modeling behaviors. Examples include letting high-status students lead an activity when you need class cooperation or when students are likely to be reluctant at first.

Observational Learning: To See Is to Know ________ And application of Observational learning is learning that occurs through observational learning ________ and imitation of others. Observational learning helps people learn how to behave________in their families and cultures. Models and their ________ Models are the people who present behavior for you to imitate. Bandura's study shows that if children observe an adult beating up a doll, they will become________. Characteristics of models that make Children are more ________ to imitate models who are observational learning more effective. experts, good looking, powerful and have high status. Models ________ to ourselves promote observational learning. How to use observational learning in ________ Modeling the ________ behaviors and attitudes is an important approach. Using peers, especially class leaders, as models is another method. ________ the help of class leaders in modeling behavior is also a good choice. 【答案】 Definition / Concept / Meaning;observation;properly / appropriately / well;impacts;aggressive / violent / rude;likely;similar;teaching / education / instruction;desired / expected / target;Seeking

The urge to share our lives on social media

People have long used media to see reflections of themselves. Long before mobile phones or even photography, diaries were kept as a way to understand oneself and the world in which one lives. In the 18th and 19th centuries, as diaries became more popular, middle-class New Englanders, particularly white women, wrote about their everyday lives and the world around them.

These diaries were not a place into which they poured their innermost thoughts and desires, but rather a place to chronicle (记录) the social world around them. The diaries captured the everyday routines of mid-19th-century life, and women diarists in particular focused not on themselves but on their families and their communities.

Diaries today are, for the most part, private. But things were different for these New England diaries. Young women who were married would send their diaries home to their parents as a way of maintaining kin (血缘) relations. When family or friends came to visit, it was not uncommon to sit down and go through one's journal together.

Diaries are not the only media that people have used to document lives and share them with others. We have long used media like photo albums, baby books and even slide shows as a means of creating traces (痕迹) of our lives. We do this to understand ourselves and to see trends in our behaviour. We create traces as part of our identity and part of our memory.

Sharing everyday life events can strengthen social connection and intimacy (亲密感). For example, you take a picture of your child's first birthday. It is not only a developmental milestone: the photo also strengthen the identity of the family unit itself. The act of taking the photo and proudly sharing it further reaffirms (再次证实) one as a good and attentive parent. In other words, the media traces of others figure in our own identities.

Today's social media platforms are, by and large, free to use, unlike historical diaries, which people had to buy. Today, advertising subsidises (补贴) our use of networked platforms. Therefore these platforms encourage use of their networks to build larger audiences and to better target them. Our pictures, our posts, and our likes are commodified—that is, they are used to create value through increasingly targeted advertising.

Instead of social media merely connecting us, it has become a craze (狂热) for information, continually trying to draw us in with the promise of social connectivity—it's someone's birthday, someone liked your picture, etc. There's a multibillion-dollar industry pulling us into our smartphones, relying on a longstanding human need for communication.

The urge to be present on social media is much more complex than simply narcissism (自恋). Social media of all kinds not only enable people to see their reflections, but to feel their connection as well. Passage outline Supporting details ♦ People kept ________to understand themselves and the world they live in. 4.

If there is one word to describe the progress made in the last 100 years, it's connectedness. From the telephone to the radio to the TV to the Internet, we have found ways to bring us all closer together, enabling, constant worldly access.

I don't think I need to highlight the benefits of all this. But the downsides are also beginning to show. Beyond the current talk about privacy and data collection, there is perhaps an even more detrimental side-effect here: We now live in a world where we're connected to everything except ourselves. According to Pascal, we fear the silence of existence, and we dread boredom and instead choose aimless distraction and use the noise of the world to block out the discomfort of dealing with ourselves.

However, we ignore the fact that never facing ourselves is why we feel lonely an anxious in spite of being so intimately connected to everything else around us.

Fortunately, there is a solution. The only way to avoid being ruined by this is to face it. It's to let the boredom take you where it wants so you can deal with whatever it is that is really going on with your sense of self. That's when you'll hear yourself think, and learn to engage the parts of you that are masked by distraction.

The beauty of this is that, once you cross that initial barrier, you realize that being alone isn't so bad. Boredom can provide its own stimulation.

When you surround yourself with moments of solitude and stillness, you become intimately familiar with your environment in a way that forced stimulation doesn't allow. The world becomes richer, the layers start to peel back, and you see things for what they really are, in all their wholeness, in all their contradictions, and in all their unfamiliarity.

You learn that there are things you are capable of paying attention to than just what makes the most noise on the surface. Just because a quiet room doesn't scream with excitement like the idea of immersing yourself in a movie or a TV show doesn't mean there isn't depth to explore there.

Sometimes, the direction that this solitude leads you in can be unpleasant, especially when it comes to introspection (内省)—your thoughts and your feelings, your doubts and your hopes—but in the long term, it's far more pleasant than running away from it all without even realizing what you are.

Being alone and connecting inwardly is a skill nobody ever teaches us. That's ironic because it's more important than most of the ones they do.

Solitude may not be the solution to everything, but it certainly is a start.

But the downsides are also beginning to show. Beyond the current talk about privacy and data collection, there is perhaps an even more detrimental side-effect here: We now live in a world where we're connected to everything except ourselves.“可知,让人们变得更近的科技最近展示出了缺点,那就是我们生活在一个除了和自己,我们和一切都有联系的世界。 填Although/Though/While。

We now live in a world where we're connected to everything except ourselves“可知我们生活在这样的一个世界,除了自己我们和一切都有联系,即我们没能与自己联系,fail to do sth,固定短语,\"没能做某事\"。

根据第二段中的”we fear the silence of existence“可知我们害怕独处。此处考查用a__________ state of existence替换silence of existence,通过分析可知空格处应填形容词,a silent/quiet state of existence=silence of existence(独处)。故填silent/quiet。 根据第二段中的”we dread boredom and instead choose aimless distraction and use the noise of the world to block out the discomfort of dealing with ourselves.“可知我们害怕无聊,取而代之,我们选择漫无目的的分散注意力,用世界的噪音来阻止我们面对自己时的不舒适感觉。 We feel so uncomfortable when dealing with ourselves that we __________ from it all我们在面对自己时感到如此不舒适以至于我们想要躲避/逃离/退缩,此处是句子谓语动词,根据feel判断为一般现在时,主语是we,故用动词原形,填escape/ hide/ shrink/ withdraw。

However, we ignore the fact that never facing ourselves is why we feel lonely an anxious“可知,我们却忽略了事实,那就是从未面对过自己是我们感到孤独和焦虑的原因。never facing ourselves is to ________ for our feeling lonely and anxious. 此处用be to blame for”对……

Fortunately, there is a solution.“也有提示,根据the判断此处填名词。故填solution(s)。 根据第五段中的”you realize that being alone isn't so bad. Boredom can provide its own stimulation.“可知你会意识到孤独并没有那么糟糕,无聊会提供它自己的刺激。Being alone isn't so bad. __________ , you'll be stimulated by boredom.

Instead/Rather/Actually。

The world becomes richer, the layers start to peel back, and you see things for what they really are, in all their wholeness, in all their contradictions, and in all their unfamiliarity.“可知独处时世界变得丰富,层次开始剥落,你看到事物的本质,它们的全部,它们的矛盾处,和它们的陌生处,即你对看到的事物有更全透彻的理解。再结合名词views判断此处应填形容词,故填comprehensive/thorough/ overall。

Just because a quiet room doesn't scream with excitement like the idea of immersing yourself in a movie or a TV show doesn't mean there isn't depth to explore there.“可知,仅仅因为一个安静的房间不会让你兴奋的尖叫,就像你沉浸在一场精彩的电影或电视节目一样,这并不意味着没有深度去探索,即安静的环境可以让人集中精力去深度探索。

Solitude is the first step you should take to save yourself from being ruined by ________ and anxiety.“可知独处是你避免被孤独和焦虑毁掉所采取的第一步,可以总结本文,又根据and anxiety可知空格处应填名词。

F. It is a time-consuming activity and demands patience and perseverance.

根据空前“The art of academic writing is not easy to master.” C. It is a formal skill, which requires precision and accuracy, and is perfected by continuous and dedicated practice. “它是一种正式的技能,需要精确和准确,并通过持续和专门的时间来完善”符合语境,故选C。

(2)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。根据空前“which the writer has carefully researched and developed over a sustained period of time.” F. It is a time-consuming activity and demands patience and perseverance. “这是一项耗时的活动,需要耐心和毅力”符合语境,故选F。

(3)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。本空前提到了一系列的问题,此处承接上文,讲的还是关于那些问题的内容,D项中的the aforementioned questions正好与前面提到的问题相对应,故 D. If one is hesitant to answer even one of the aforementioned questions, one had better not write at all! “如果一个人对回答上述任何一个问题都犹豫不决,他最好不要写”符合语境,故选D。

(4)考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。根据空前“The structure of an argumentative essay should take the form of – Introduction (which should be around ten percent of the entire essay), Body (it should constitute eighty percent of the piece) and the Conclusion (again, ten per cent of the essay).” B. The introduction should function as the hook which draws the reader in and holds his attention. “引言应该起到吸引读者注意力的作用”符合语境,故选B。

【点评】本题要求在理解细节信息的基础上,着重考查对上下文的理解和推理判断能力。

Time for Americans to act on climate change

The climate crisis is worsening at a rate that is becoming harder and harder to ignore. For more than two decades, scientific reports have made it clear that global warming is real, that humans cause it and that the consequences will be disastrous.

The scientific community has become increasingly panicked over the past year. The latest assessment from the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change painted a far more terrible picture than its previous analyses, and the long-awaited National Climate Assessment made clear that climate change represents a severe threat to human health as well as our economic security. Out of this panic came the treaty(条约)reached this past weekend by world leaders to keep the Paris climate agreement alive.

Yet many Americans still don't regard the threat as a key priority for our government, and support President Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris treaty. Campaign contributions from fossil fuel companies have convinced elected officials to look the other way. A certain amount of despair has resulted in widespread apathy(漠然).

But there is another reason that has been discussed far less openly. While a growing number of people understand that climate change will have significant worldwide consequences, many Americans have an intuitive(直觉的)belief that their nation is more capable than others of adapting to a changed environment. Why? Because they have before.

This historical success, however, resulted from the federal government taking science seriously, and making investments to urge revolution and innovation.

But these innovations did not happen by themselves, or simply because of the United States' rich resources. They depended on consistent support from the leaders about the need to take action when faced with crises. This has been especially true in the environmental crisis. President Bill Clinton had a shockingly modest record of advancing climate security, particularly given that his vice president, Al Gore, had been one of the most outspoken environmentalists in Congress. By far Clinton's biggest accomplishment was assigning Gore to participate іn thе Куоtо Рrоtoсоl negotiations. Сlіntоn сhоѕе, hоwеvеr, tо аvоіd whаt ѕurеlу wоuld have been a terrible fight in the Senate to gain approval of the treaty. While this effort probably would have failed, it would have signaled to the American people how seriously the Democratic Party took climate change.

Thus, the time has clearly arrived for progressive candidates to start campaigning on a platform built around the need for a sustainability revolution. Such a plan should include a carbon tax, well-funded clean energy research, evolved agricultural policies and smarter public transport. Given that Generation X and millennials(千禧一代)never bought into the fiction that the United States is immune to the dangers of global warming, the time is ripe to make climate security a crucial government responsibility. Only by doing so can we begin the long-overdue(拖延好久

的)campaign to save the planet.

When was the last time you sat on a park bench(凳子)? Did you stay for long? A new kind of park benches will limit the amount of time you can sit there. If you don't get up in time, it could be very painful: there are many sharp spikes (钉子) on the part that you sit on!

Visitors who want a rest on the bench need to put a coin in a machine next to it. Once the money was accepted, the spikes disappear into the bench. Then visitors can sit down comfortably, but only for half an hour. When the time's up, the spikes slowly start moving up again. It doesn't hurt at first, but after a minute, they start coming up even more quickly. They aren't long enough to cause serious hurt, but they do cause pain, as tests have shown. But why have they been

installed (安装)?

\"Our public park is very popular in summer,\" a spokesperson for the park explained. \"But with all the thousands of people who visit the park, there aren't enough benches for everyone. We want to make sure that the benches are shared by more visitors, and to stop people taking a bench and staying there all day. Installing spikes seems to be the fairest way of stopping people doing this.\"

(1)How is the new kind of park bench different from other benches? (2)What is Paragraph 2 mainly about? (3)Why are the new benches installed?

(4)The passage says, \"Installing spikes seems to be the fairest way of stopping people doing this.\" Do you agree with this? Please state your reasons.

(1)It can limit the amount of time people sit on it (with sharp spikes). / If you don't get up from it in limited time, it could make you painful./ There are many sharp spikes on it to limit the amount of time people sit on it.

(2)It's mainly about how the new kind of benches work.

(3)They're installed to solve the problem that some people take a bench too long and others can't share it.

(4)Yes. If people are asked to pay for benches, they will not take it too long when they don't really need it. Thus, every visitor will have the chance to share it. / No. Benches in parks should be free to visitors. The park can build more benches to solve its problem instead of limiting the time when visitors have a rest on benches.

根据第一段中的“If you don’t get up in time, it could be very painful: there are many sharp spikes on the part that you sit on!” It can limit the amount of time people sit on it (with sharp spikes). / If you don’t get up from it in limited time, it could make you painful./There are many sharp spikes on it to limit the amount of time people sit on it.。 根据第二段中的“Visitors who want a rest on the bench need to put a coin in a machine next to it. Once the money was accepted, the spikes disappear into the bench. Then visitors can sit down comfortably, but only for half an hour. When the time’s up, the spikes slowly start moving up again.” It’s mainly about how the new kind of benches work.。

根据第三段中的“We want to make sure that the benches are shared by more visitors, and to stop people taking a bench and staying there all day.”

They’re installed to solve the problem that some people take a bench too long and others can’t share it.。

Yes. If people are asked to pay for benches, they will not take it too long when they don’t really need it. Thus, every visitor will have the chance to share it. /No. Benches in parks should be free to visitors. The park can build more benches to solve its problem instead of limiting the time when visitors have a rest on benches.。

My dad is a kind, gentle man, and a man of few words. Throughout my life, he offered advice rarely. But the words were always appropriate to the situation I was facing.

As a teen when I struggled with making sense of the world around me, he said, “All things are relative.” He taught me the right view of the world. When I was offered the opportunity to be a manager of an organization as an undergraduate student, I asked him for advice because he was a senior manager of a large company. His advice was simple, “Only when you become the manager can you have a vision for how you can make the organization better; management isn't about power and it's about leadership.” I learned what I needed was not only to be responsible for my team but also to have leading ability. When I was feeling down, he explained, “Think that you make the wrong choices in life, sometimes.”

My dad is 86 now, living on his own and enjoying life while struggling with the challenges that aging brings. He keeps a positive attitude despite long pain and the losses that come in life. Although we live quite far away from each other, we talk daily on the phone, and he shares the joys of my young family. As I tell him how we're heading off cycling or on a trip or out to play tennis, now his typical response is, “Do it while you can.” This is very important. We can't be sure of the future. My father's advice is like the ancient dictum(格言)of “ carpe diem”— seize the day and enjoy it to the fullest.

My dad rarely “lectured me”. He trusted me, and helped me when I needed help. His patience and wisdom have been true gifts in my life. As I doubt my ability and my motivation, I recall his most recent gift of wisdom, “Do it while you can”. It's enough to “just get me started”. (1)Why did the author's dad tell him “All things are relative.”? (No more than 10 words) (2)What qualities should a manager have according to the author? (No more than 5 words) (3)What is the purpose of the author's father talking with him on the phone every day? (No more than 10 words)

(4)How do you understand the underlined sentence in the last paragraph? (No more than 10 words)

(5)How do you feel about the ancient dictum of “carpe diem”? (No more than 20 words) 【答案】 (1)To teach the author the right view of the world. (2)Both responsibility and leading ability.

(3)Learning (To learn) more about the pleasure of the author's family. (4)His father's words make him take action.

(5)(One possible version:) I totally agree with it, because I think one should seize the day to enjoy his life without regret.

根据第二段中的“As a teen when I struggled with making sense of the world around me, he said, ‘All things are relative.’ He taught me the right view of the world.” To teach the author the right view of the world.

根据第二段中的“I learned what I needed was not only to be responsible for my team but also to have leading ability.” Both responsibility and leading ability.

根据最后一段中的“As I doubt my ability and my motivation, I recall his most recent gift of wisdom, “Do it while you can”. It's enough to “just get me started”可知,当作者怀疑自己的能力和动机时,他会想起父亲最近赐予他的智慧——“趁你能做的时候去做”。这足以让我“开始”了。由此可知,划线句意为,父亲的话让自己行动起来。考虑词数限制,故答His father's words make him take action.

I totally agree with it, because I think one should seize the day to enjoy his life without regret.(我完全同意,因为我认为一个人应该抓住这一天,享受他的生活没有遗憾)

A comfort zone is a self--imposed boundary where a person will refuse to push past. Doing so usually fills him or her with nervousness and anxiety. So let's talk about breaking out of this comfort zone.

Get information. To break through your comfort zone you need to first educate yourself. Your goal here is to find out about whatever skill you're pursuing. You'll talk to people who have done the same thing.________ And you'll check out articles on the Internet about this subject. Have a plan. After educating yourself it's important to create a plan of action. With this step

you're going to write down a step -by- step blueprint for how you're going to break through your comfort zone.________ Then you create a plan to get to each level. In this plan you need to create benchmarks. These are mini -goals that put you one step close to pushing past your comfort zone.

________ This is an important step because the people in your life will keep you on track. You want them to give you that \"push\" as you're pushing your boundaries. They will make it hard for you to quit because you know you'll look foolish if you did.

Remain positive. There will be times when you experience a negative outcome, something that shakes your confidence and makes you feel scared. The trick is to not let anything prevent you from blasting past the point of comfort. Recognize that you will have negative outcomes.________

11.Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in each blank with a proper sentence given in the box. Each sentence can be used only once. Note that there are two more sentences than you need.

\"My work is done.\" Those words were some of the last penned by George Eastman. He included them in his suicide note. They mark an ignoble end to a noble life, the leave taking of a truly great man. The same words could now be said for the company he left behind. Actually, the Eastman Kodak Company is through. It has been mismanaged financially, technologically and competitively. ________ One of America's bedrock brands is about to disappear, the Kodak moment has passed. But George Eastman is not how he died, and the Eastman Kodak Company is not how it is being killed. Though the ends are needless and premature, they must not be allowed to overshadow the greatness that came before. Few companies have done so much good for so many people, or defined and lifted so profoundly the spirit of a nation and perhaps the world. ________ Kodak served mankind through entertainment, science, national defense and the stockpiling of family memories. Kodak took us to the top of Mount Suribachi and to the Sea of Tranquility. It introduced us to the merry old Land of Oz and to stars from Charlie Chaplin to John Wayne, and Elizabeth Taylor to Tom Hanks. ________ When that sailor kissed the nurse, and when the spy planes saw missiles in Cuba, Kodak was the eyes of a nation. From the deck of the Missouri to the grandeur of Monument Valley, Kodak took us there. Virtually every significant image of the 20th Century is a gift to generation from the Eastman Kodak Company.________ Yes, there were photographers, and for relatively large sums of money they would take unnatural pictures in studios and formal settings. But most people couldn't afford photographs, and so all they had to remember distant loved ones, or earlier times of their lives, was memory. Children could not know what their parents had looked like as young people, grandparents far away might never

learn what their grandchildren looked like. Eastman Kodak allowed memory to move from the uncertainty of recollection, to the permanence of a photograph. But it wasn't just people whose features were savable; it was events, the precious times that families cherish. The Kodak moment, was humanity's moment.

A.It showed us the shot that killed President Kennedy, and his brother bleeding out on a kitchen floor. B.George Eastman was not only interested in commercial profits, but also in the improvement of other people's lives. C.In an era of easy digital photography, when we can take a picture of anything at any time, we cannot imagine what life was like before George Eastman brought photography to people. Nobody likes to think they are “that guy” at work.________. So, what are some of the rudest things that people do at work — and why shouldn't you do them? Behaving in an unacceptable way

The most common form of this is eating smelly foods at lunchtime. Other things alike include body smell and its opposite, the wearing of strong perfume, messy desks, or bad breath.________.

Checking email on your phone when you're talking to other people

A recent survey shows that 49 percent of people said their bosses checked their phones while talking with them.________. However, if you listen to what others say and show interest by asking intelligent questions, they'll love you and be likely to give you their support when you speak. Showing off how much you earn

________. If you show off your income to someone and then discover you get less than them, you'll look like a fool. If you earn more, they'll feel tired of you. The entire debate assumes a clear divide between the physical and the mental.________What will it mean for our ideas about pleasure?

________Food is usually considered to be the lower pleasure. All animals eat, using the senses of smell and taste. It doesn't require any complex cognition (认知) to conclude that something is delicious. However, these people failed to appreciate something that the French food writer Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin captured. That is, \"Animals feed; man eats; only the man of intellect(才智) knows how to eat.\"

Eating shows that the difference between higher pleasure and lower pleasure is not what you

enjoy but how you enjoy it.________Preparing it using the powers of reflection and attention turns it into a higher pleasure.

A. The dining table is a good place to start.

B. Wolfing down your food is a lower kind of pleasure. C. What's the real difference between high and low pleasure? D. What happens if the physical and the mental cannot be separated? E. All philosophers believed that cookery could never be a form of art.

F. Higher pleasure depends on human abilities such as self-awareness or language use. G. However, disagreements will be caused about whether some forms of pleasure are better than others.

Help Migrant Workers

There is nothing like going home. More so if it is for the Spring Festival family reunion. For a migrant worker it perhaps means even more. To be able to set out on a homeward journey with money from a year's toil in his pocket is the best thing he can think of. ________ They had to press hard for their defaulted payments, the salaries that were failed to pay up.

About 200 million migrant workers nationwide are something left behind by economic reforms and opening up due to their contributions in the past three decades. It is almost impossible to imagine life in these places without them. However, they still form a disadvantaged group. Their rights are violated in different forms. Among other things, unpaid salaries are the most painful of such violations that are likely to drive a migrant worker to desperate actions. ________ ________They have taken measures to prevent employers from holding back payments to them. Yet, as the financial crisis bites deep, some small enterprises that are struck the most try to reduce their economic losses by laying off migrant workers or refusing to pay them. So it is particularly important for governments at all levels to do an even better job in helping villager-turned-workers recover their unpaid salaries before the Spring Festival.

It is good news that quite a number of local governments have organized special taskforces to conduct inspections in those labor-intensive enterprises to make sure they have paid their migrant workers in a timely and fair manner. Construction commissions in almost all provinces have published hotlines for farmer-turned-construction workers to lodge complaints against their employers for withholding their salaries. ________ But we need to look for solutions that will work at all times. We need to put in place a mechanism that will effectively prevent employers from holding back salaries to workers.

A. Some have reportedly climbed up chimneys to jump to their death unless they get their defaulted salaries.

B. It is something every Chinese look forward to as the traditional gala draws near.

C. Unfortunately, weeks preceding the Spring Festival have turned out to be hard times for migrant workers.

D. Hopefully, these efforts will send more workers on a happy journey home for the Spring Festival with their salaries in their pockets.

E. However difficult the situations they are in, it is too cruel and unfair for employers to hold back salaries they should pay their migrant workers.

F. Objectively speaking, governments at various levels have done a great deal in helping these workers recover their defaulted salaries. 【答案】 C;A;F;D
