Last Weekend Was So Much Fun!

Last weekend was the best! On Saturday morning, I woke up really early because I was so excited. My friends John, Sarah, and Michael were all coming over to my house and we were going to go play at the big park near my neighborhood.

My mom made us yummy pancakes with syrup and berries for breakfast. After we ate, we went upstairs to my room to get our backpacks ready. We packed water bottles, snacks like granola bars and apple slices, a couple bouncy balls, sidewalk chalk, and a frisbee to play with at the park.

Finally, we were all set and headed out the door around 10am. It was such a nice sunny day! We walked the few blocks to the park, talking and laughing the whole way there. When we got to the playground, we spent a long time on the swings, seeing who could go the highest and jump the farthest off. I jumped really far one time and landed in the wood chips. It was fun but I got a little scraped up.

After the swings, we played on the big climbing structure with all the tunnels, bridges, and slides. We had a contest to see who could get across the whole thing the fastest without

touching the ground. Michael won because he's really quick, but I came in a close second. Sarah screamed really loudly in one of the tunnels and it echoed a ton. John thought it would be funny to get stuck halfway through the tube slide, but then he got scared and started crying until we helped pull him out!

When we got hungry around lunchtime, we sat at a picnic table and ate the snacks we brought. Sarah's mom had put a surprise in her backpack - a squishy ball that would slowly deflate after you threw it. We had so much fun tossing it back and forth and watching it shrivel up after each throw. Michael somehow managed to get the ball stuck way up in a tree! We tried throwing sticks and our frisbee to knock it down, but nothing worked. We'll have to ask someone taller next time we're at the park to get it for us.

After lunch, we got out the sidewalk chalk and drew all over the basketball court. I drew a super cool rocket ship blasting off, while Sarah worked on a pretty garden scene full of flowers. John just scribbled everywhere and covered the whole area in colorful squiggles. Michael drew a funny cartoon face with a crazy tongue sticking out. Our chalk drawings looked so bright and vibrant against the grey concrete.

When we were done with the chalk, we tried out some of the open grassy areas by the playground. John showed us some soccer moves he learned and we kicked the ball around for a while. Sarah wasn't very good at kicking it, but she was an awesome goalie and blocked most of our shots on her goal. I got a little bored of soccer after a bit, so I grabbed the frisbee from my backpack and started throwing it with Michael. He was really good at catching it, even if I threw it too high or too far to the side. A couple times the frisbee went sailing over his head and landed in the grass behind him. I had to chase after it both times while Michael laughed at me.

As the day went on, we played pretty much every game and activity you could imagine at the park. We went down the twisty slide about a million times, played long games of tag and hide-and-seek, took turns pushing each other really high on the swing set, and even tried going across the monkey bars (though we all fell off at some point!).

By late afternoon, we were getting pretty hot, sweaty, and tired from running around in the sunshine all day. We stopped to drink the rest of our water and Mom came to pick us up and take us back home. In the car on the way home, we were all

completely exhausted but grinning from ear to ear. \"That was so

awesome!\" I told my friends. \"We have to come back to the park again next weekend!\"

When I got home, I took a nice cool bath to get cleaned up. As I was getting ready for bed that night, I just couldn't stop thinking about what an incredibly fun day it had been. We were outside playing games and using our imaginations pretty much the entire time instead of being stuck inside all day. Running, jumping, climbing, throwing, catching, laughing with my best friends - it was the best! I absolutely love days like that.

I can't wait for next weekend so we can go back to the park again. Or maybe we'll go explore the hiking trails by the creek instead. Or set up Alex's new badminton net in his backyard. With friends like John, Sarah, and Michael around, I know we'll never run out of great outdoor activities to try. We'll make so many more awesome memories this summer! I just hope every weekend can be as fun as last weekend was.
