摘要：A surveillance system comprises a video camera (300) generating a video outputsignal (Vo) coupled to a video recorder (300A) having remote control capability. A motion

detector (100) generates a signal (11) indicative of detected motion and responsive tothe signal indicative of detected motion a control unit (200) generates a first controlsignal (21) for the video recorder (300A). The first control signal (11) initiates a recordingmode in the video recorder (300A) and at cessation of the detected motion the recordingmode is terminated. In the surveillance system described, battery powered operatingtime is extended by powering only the motion detector (100) during periods of inactivity.Recording media (300B) usage is conserved by only recording periods of detected motionand may be further conserved by recording only predetermined frames.
